Various Artists: Saw 3D-Music Inspired By The Motion Picture Soundtrack

Saw 3D, the 7th and final installment in the Saw horror movie franchise, also brings another accompanying CD Soundtrack, hence, Saw 3D-Music Inspired By The Motion Picture. Unlike previous Soundtracks that featured more heavy and bruising Metal acts to help inflict Jigsaw's psycho taunts, the Saw 3D version includes more "Mall Metal" acts like Saving Abel, Hinder, Default and Saliva. Though the tracks by these bands ARE more on the heavier side than most anything they've done in the past, so maybe there is an endgame here.

Saw 3D-Music Inspired By The Motion Picture features 3 previously unreleased tracks from Saving Abel, Saliva and Dir En Grey, as well as being quite diverse in the acts included this time around. 80's Swiss Rockers, Krokus, Electronica Pop band, Nitzer Ebb and Finnish Metaller's Lordi, all make an appearance. New All Star Rock band, Dead By Sunrise, features Chester Bennington (who also makes a cameo in the film) of Linkin Park and Amir Derakh formally of LA Metal Band Rough Cutt & Orgy, also made the cut onto the CD. Even through all of the vastness of different acts on this soundtrack, it does seem to work and flow as a complete CD. The Aussie band, Karnivool, completely steals the show with their amazing track, "Goliath". Karnivool are on the cusp of making a HUGE impact here in the states, mark my words! Those unfamiliar with Karnivool, imagine if Tool and Porcupine Tree had an offspring. Heavy, thoughtful, twisting and awesome.

All and all this is a cohesive soundtrack that touches on a bunch of different Rock textures and still manages to keep it all together. Another cool tidbit, the CD booklet opens up into a Saw 3D mini poster, if you're enjoy that type of thing.
