Yeti Rain is a band from Racine, Wisconsin, with members, Roger Ebner on sax, wind, and synth; William Kopecky on basses, and vocals on "The Sky Sickened"; and Craig Walkner, on acoustic and electric percussion.
Most of it was interesting, original music full of chaotic sounds and wild Zappa – like influences. "The Sky Sickened" is my least favorite song on the album by far. The instrumental parts would make a great soundtrack for a horror film.
"Planets" opens with pounding percussion and cool synths, as if you're drifting out into the planets before time began. The drums, percussion, synth noises and roaring sax create an environment of chaos as if the 'Big Bang' is underway and the universe is being formed. The song eventually drifts off quietly after a ten minute free fall.
Screeching and echoing sax sounds fill the air as "Dragonfly Algebra" gets underway. Deep basses, and weird sound effects fill the air. Cool drums and grooving sax mixed with ominous bass and synths. An over twelve minute blast of sound.
"The Meeting" opens with cool synths and slow quiet bass noises. A spoken word poem fills the last half of the song.
Slow synth, like a morning opening, brings "Fires of Heaven" to life. Shimmering cymbals and cool bass, surrounded by exploding sound effects. The best song on the album, with an almost Kitaro feel to it.
More sound effects open "The Sky Sickened", along with wind instruments and whispered word. Lots of chaotic bass and drums intermixed with soft wind instruments and dark spoken poetry. Thankfully, the poetry ends near the middle of the song and you get some inspired bass, sax, and synth work.
Ominous synths, echoing sax and bass open "The Sixth Bowl of Wrath". Dark vocal sounds and surrounding synths and noises make this a great track for a horror movie.
