What's in a name? When I started my review for this album by Swedish AOR metal band Stratosphere I remember searching for additional info on the Net. You cannot believe how many bands roam the world with the name Stratosphere. It is really unbelievable how many there are.
Enough of that. Fire Flight is a 'flight' through the Stratosphere, highly melodic instantly grabbing AOR, like AOR is meant to be. Nice grabbing melodies with a huge production, Stratosphere is a band we need to find in the big Arenas across the universe to play this music. The boys have delivered an excellent AOR album with Fire Flight.
Tremendous keyboard soundscapes interacting with heavily played guitars, fast riffing, and strong leads. Vocals in Harmony and solo sound very clear. I could not sit still for a moment listening to the songs on this album, a number of times I even had the distinct feel of singing along to the lyrics, which I did not know of course, but given a few more spins and I will know them.
Very well made by these Swedish boys, I honestly believe we will hear more of this outfit in the future. A beautiful album, absolute Earcandy this one. "Enemy Of My Soul" makes you want to sing along, and just listen to "Rendezvous", Yngwie Malmsteen eat your heart out, Classical sublime. The sheer balladry of "Princess of The Night" let alone the outstanding title track "Fire Flight", make for some wonderful listening.
