Heliopause is Auspex's second full length album. The band Auspex was formed back in 2001 in Grenoble,France. Their lineup is as follows: Lionel, Pierre-Yves, Alexis, Fred, Arthur, Elodie. Who plays what is not very clear to me but that is not that big a problem. I'll find out about this in the future and make note of that in a future review if that becomes apparent.
Auspex create musical sphere in a progressive rock world, more specific Gothic sounds spring to mind. As stated Heliopause is their second album, and the first album dates way back to 2006 and was back then produced by Brett Caldas-Lima who also worked with artists such as To-Mera, Calisia and Cynic.
The band make fast moving gothic music, each track following the other with high speed and is drenched in operatic sounding voices and wide soundscapes known to the gothic genre.
They have decided that the album is available as a download purchase as well as a normal hardcopy CD.
The cover of the CD is a bit strange looking maybe. All is explained in the liner notes that come with the package. It also contains the lyrics to all of the songs so you can read along with the singing.
This has become a nice effort, with a lot of classic influences certainly worth a try if you are a fan of the Gothic Genre and bands like Within Temptation , Nightwish and the like.
I found this very enjoyable indeed.
