Givens, Edward M: Diabolus in Musica!

This is an interesting album of fusion. It is full of cool horns, violin, viola and synth loops intermingling with great guitar and drums. Good music for working at home and relaxing to on the weekend. The violin sections are especially warm and relaxing. Cool instrumental work that never gets old. I especially enjoyed the guitar opening on "Sotto Voce", along with its accompanying horns. The violin also works well on "Sotto Voce", my favorite song on the album. The violin music on "Mephisto" gives it a Middle Eastern rhythm, which is exceptional and it also blends well with the horn sections on this song. Neil Valett and Brett Pitner are also featured on the CD. This album is a nice surprise.
