Made up of members from the Georgia Guitar Quartet as well as members from SS Puft, Georgian Contemporary Unit is a strongly guitar driven excursion into the soul.
After a raucous improvisational opening, the disc settles into a meditative cadence of exploratory acoustic guitar. heavily influenced by Eastern transcendental music and New Age . It takes a few tracks to really start appreciating the subleties at work here. Guest guitarist Sandor Szabo plays a masterful 16-string guitar. The band achieves it's goal with an album " that reaches towards a universal music."
I don't know what kind of audience this type of music manages to captivate or if this type of music listener reads the reviews on this site but if you're looking for a music which seems to reach you on an almost subliminal level, then you may find what you're looking for with The View You Never Get. Georgia based Solponticello is a very daring label which seems more concerned with releasing the type of music their artists really want to create as opposed to aiming for the mass market. I salute them.
