Prime Suspect: Prime Suspect

Pedigree-wise Prime Suspect have no problems at all with Daniele Liverani, Tommy Ermolli and Dario Ciccioni from Khymera in their ranks and to be fair there's nothing wrong at all with this, the debut Prime Suspect album. It's well played, well sung and fairly well produced (if slightly lacking power); it's just not outstanding.

The main problem I have with Prime Suspect is the lack of memorable songs, even after repeated listening there's only one song that I could actually remember if pushed. Now, it is entirely possible that is because the album could eventually become a grower but equally we need to remember that we're dealing with AOR here and isn't the point of AOR to have huge hooks and melodies that bury into your conscientiousness and make life worth living?

That said, there is one song on here that I have been listening to incessantly, namely "I'll be Fine", which does exactly what I suggest in the previous paragraph. This song has followed me everywhere I've been recently, it's been at the back of my mind for all of the time I've had the record. It is, as the cliché goes; worth the price of admission all by itself.

It's a shame that the other songs aren't quite up to the same memorable standard but maybe, a couple of months down the line they'll reveal hidden depths.
