Sorgeldom: Inner Receivings

Young Swedish Progressive Black Metaller's, Sorgeldom have returned with their 2nd full length release called, Inner Receivings, that clocks in at just under an hour long and is filled with 9 songs fueled with old school Thrash speed, intricate Progressive musicianship and Black Metal blast beats and moodiness. Fans of early Opeth will be intrigued by Sorgeldom.

First put together as a somewhat depressive acoustic project that soon morphed into this metal act, Sorgeldom are best described as Experimental/Progressive Metal. Injected with vocal growls and ferver that are mixed with clean crooner styles, ala Opeth, and then matched with Thrash, Black Metal and Prog Metal interludes, Sorgeldom are an eclectic band for sure. The atmospheric themes and sometimes complicated compositions make Inner Receivings a CD that needs to be listened to a few times for the lingering effects to infiltrate you. This record is a grower and you will find yourself changing you thoughts about the record, the more spins that you give it.

The overall mix is sub par, which muddles up some of the really good individual musical performances, but the drums do cut through and plow the entire effort forward. The Progressive dynamics slammed with old school Thrash make this anything but a boring listen. Adventurous and bold, Sorgeldom give you something to think about with Inner Receivings, but it will take you a few spins to get into it.
