Vomitor: Devils Poison
Faithful to its tradition, Hellsheadbangers has released another sub-par metal album. On the other hand, compared to the CD I just reviewed from Nekropsy, Devil's Poison is at least listenable. I mean, the sound production is much better here and at least Vomitor has injected a certain melodic rate in their songwriting.
Vomitor is an Australian thrashy death metal grinder and a war machine. The guitar is everywhere and is obviously the leading instrument on this album. Oddly enough, it is somewhat shy and was given a mid range tone. The bass though is rumbling and the drumming is very kicking. Shy and discrete are the vocals as well. The riffs are often of a fast nature, but they can become crunchier in the moderate parts, fortunately. The solos are frequent and bear a bit of wickedness in them. "Saga of the Rage" is their best composition that includes: buzzing bass, distorted leads, moderate tempos and this song adds juice to the guitar work. With all of what is going on in their songs, it makes the music sound more chaotic than melodic at times.
Nothing great to expect from Vomitor, just a typical Hellsheadbangers release.
