Hearing that sparkling Rhodes sound out of the gate on the title track brings a smile to my face. That opening riff/motif is one that will stick with you. Keyboardist Henrique Mota can certainly tickle the ivories, check out the lively title track and “Beyond the Wall” which features more Rhodes bliss and a memorable keyboard motif. The trio also consists of Igor Willcox (drums) and Iury Batista (acoustic and electric bass). The acoustic bass adds a nice punch and variation, check out “Estrella de Terra”.
Let’s be honest, what makes this special are the two tracks featuring guitarist Evgeny Pobozhiy. How about we make the trio a quartet and bring Pobozhiy into the fold full time! He’s stellar on both “Sir Gallas” and “Spiritual Science”, just his presence seems to fire up the band and the compositions. Especially during “Spiritual Science” both Mota and Pobozhiy play some stunning leads. I find myself missing his presence over the course of the rest of the album. Being a guitar junkie may have led me to that viewpoint, because when guitarist Jacob Altved steps in on guitar for “Della Vincent” the whole band gets grooving. That guitar and acoustic piano hit me where it counts, and the bass and drums are perfect.
