SEK: Wallensteins Garage

Here we have the debut album from German instrumental heavy psych act SEK, titled Wallensteins Garage. SEK stands for the first 3 letters of each of the main band's last names:

Guitars: Paul-Willy Stoyan
Drums: Georg Edert
Bass: Lucas Kazzer
Guest Keyboards: Benjamin Butter

The title track "Wallensteins Garage" opens up with nimble & fuzzy bass lines, searing lead guitar, and heavy riffs...it's part heavy psych, part Krautrock; nice and beefy & trippy, a great way to start the album.

That is followed by "Die Schlacht bei Lützen," a near 9-minute vibrant and catchy number; the synth work is a nice touch to hear alongside the crushing, driving riffs; drums are pounding away underneath it all, screaming lead guitar work... great track! Ash Ra Temple meets Pink Floyd!

For something completely different, you have "Amore Mio," which is melodic and memorable...one of the more atmospheric tracks here.

A Next up is "Auftritt zu Pappenheim" a proggy and epic track with off-the-rails psychedelic guitar solos...again, early Ash Ra Temple elements...ominous guitar tone...awesome song!

The closing track, "Amore Mios Ende," is somewhat heavy and doom-laden, featuring thunderous riffage, crushing drums, booming fuzz bass, trippy lead guitar, and a creepy atmosphere. Killer! Sounds like a long-lost Crazy Horse track near the end.

Some of this reminds me of Psychedelic Kraut Jam by Trigon from 2024. If you love lots of screaming psychedelic guitar jams, and irresistible, trippy grooves, you need to check these guys out.
