A singer-songwriter staple in the San Francisco area, vocalist/guitarist Michael Vincent delivers feel-good melodies, catchy choruses, jangly arrangements and sunshiny vibes -- and the 10 songs on Sky Blue (C’mon, C’mon!) burst forth in a rainbow of indie rock, power pop and folk rock. Vincent’s mediocre voice is countered by his energetic songwriting and a damn fine backing band called U No Who. The album’s pace slows down in the middle, with a four-song section that reasserts Vincent’s reputation as a versatile performer who can play both hard and soft. Sky Blue (C’mon, C’mon!) is bookended with two versions of “C’mon, C’mon!” The album-opening version rocks and crackles and leaves a mark, while the closing version is a little more downbeat and cautious. Both versions, however, emerge as the most memorable songs of this bunch.
