Veonity: Elements Of Power

This time we delve into Sweden’s Veonity and their 2022 release Elements Of Power. The power metal foursome formed in 2013 and have released a number of albums including:

Gladiator’s Tale (2015)
Into The Void (2016)
Legend Of The Starborn (2018)
Sorrows (2020)
Elements Of Power (2022)
The Final Element (2024)

The band plays traditional power metal and relies less on effects and gimmicks and more on tight musicianship and robust vocals with plenty of power. The disc is off to a fine start with the energetic “Beyond The Realm Of Reality�, a fast paced burner that is both upbeat and catchy as hell. The melodic guitar riffs and robust rhythm section set the pace for Anders Sköld’s excellent lead vocals. The chorus is to die for as his vocals soar with powerful conviction. More fast and tight riffage can be heard in the epic sounding “The Surge� and on “Altar Of Power� the band hits hard with a slightly slower pace and another irresistible chorus, one of the disc’s best and most majestic ear worms. The embedded synth in the tasty and energetic “Curse Of The Barren Plains�, the dynamic synth work in “Return To The Land Of Light�, and the melodic speed metal of “Gargoyles Of Black Steel� are more worthy highlights.

Speed metal fans should look no further than Elements Of Power. A sure fire winner in my book and an excellent four stars.
