Myth Of Logic: Light At The End

Here is the final album in the Here & There trilogy titled Light At The End by one man band Myth Of Logic, led by Scott G. Davis. The two previous releases, Surrounded By Ghosts (2022) and Pictures From A Previous Dream (2023) are both excellent and Light At The End continues Davis’s excellent sense of melody and fine instrumental prowess, especially his keyboard and synth work which dominates the album.

The album starts with the near thirteen minute epic “Unfold” beginning with wind and footstep effects, mysterious and eerily enhanced spoken word, and emerging from this dystopian soundscape is a clean guitar lick and huge organ in the vein of Kansas or Yes. Davis’s organ work is outstanding throughout and his guitar playing also makes a considerable presence with some nice electric soloing and riffs. His fat Squire-like bass work is also impressive. A grandiose keyboard and fast tempo begins “A Thief’s Misfortune” along with thick bass lines intertwined with majestic keyboard solos. Again, the urgency recalls mid-70s yes and the vocals remind me a little of Steve Walsh. Buzzing synthesizers enter the picture, ramping up the ‘70s retro feel. It is really a testament to Davis’s multi-instrumental skills as one would never think this is the work of just one musician. “Purple Heart” begins with grand keyboard swells and delivers a nice melodic touch, especially Davis’s layered and soaring vocals and well placed guitar solos. A fine mixture of melodic rock and prog. Another highlight has to be the near fifteen minute “A Construct Of Delusion”, a sprawling progressive rock epic where the extended time allows Davis to fully deploy is considerable musical talent, bringing back images of the glorious ‘70s in all its decadence.

So there you have it. Another winner from Myth Of Logic. Now, if I could only het my hands around his latest 2025 release. Looking forward to it immensely.
