Robeone: Optimistica

Robeone, aka Robert Schindler, has been applying his considerable keyboard skills since the ‘70s and released his latest effort titled Optimistica in 2024 on TransGlobal Records. The music presented here is one hundred percent played on keyboards and all by Schindler himself. You will be hard pressed to believe your ears as it seems like guitar, saxophone, flute, percussion, and a myriad of other sounds will bombard your senses. All played on the keyboard and it all sounds pretty cool if you ask me.

The artist touches on instrumental progressive rock and jazz fusion, his playing virtuosic and melodic, forming fast led jams and moody bits of slow forming atmospherics. It is one of those albums that needs to be listened to in one session, not breaking it apart track by track. The first track “Billie’s Heart� begins with gentle keyboards and choral sounds before saxophone and blistering guitar envelope your ears, of course its all delivered by way of keyboards. “Broken Days� has a hint of the orient and includes more outstanding solos while “No Clue� has a jazz-funk vibe. The title track features wonderful piano keyboard and ventures into prog fusion territory whereas “Peace A Dream� is both dreamy and virtuosic featuring more outstanding keyboard work. Anyone interested in keyboard focused prog rock should find plenty to enjoy with Optimistica. I know I did. Recommended.
