Great VoyageR: Great VoyageR

Hailing from Piraeus, Greece, metal band Great VoyageR formed in 2012 by Antonis Mantzoros but as is the case with many bands a revolving door of band members hindered the band’s creative process. All that said, the band released their self-titled debut in 2023. Playing on the album are:

Nick Patsis (drums)
Antonis Mantzoros (bass)
George Raftopoulos (guitars)
Dimitris Zazirei (vocals)

George has since left the band, enter new guitarist Niktar Maninas.

Just listen to the first track “7th Seal� to hear the band in all their heavy metal glory. The iron Maiden-like chug, the powerful yet catchy lead vocals, the pounding rhythms, this cut sets the mood for the entire disc. “Belphegor� is another catchy riff monster with a deep bottom end and with “Blind The Night� the band slow it down including impassioned lead vocals, that is until the killer riffs are unleashed and the energy ramps up. This leads to the scorching “Earth Was Made In Hell� where the band’s riffs will swallow you up. Another high point for me is the band’s melodic sensibilities as every track is an earworm in its own right.

Although short, this disc is chalk full of high quality tunes. You know as they say - all killer, no filler. An excellent four stars it is!
