Crommie, Daniel and Gray, Leslie: Harbinger

The third collaboration between multi-instrumentalists Daniel Crommie and Leslie Gray finds the duo elaborating on their uplifting and refreshing mix of atmospheric acoustic and electronic music. The all-instrumental Harbinger pulsates with musical prowess, as Crommie plays concert flute, alto flute, synths, sequencers, electric dulcimer, percussion and other “devices,” and he is accompanied by Gray on electric violin, viola and cello. (Colin Henson appears on “Objects in Mirror” to play electric guitar and bass.) These 11 songs twinkle, sparkle, inspire and seduce -- as if they were the soundtrack to an award-winning albeit unmade nature film.

Of course, Crommie and Gray sound so compatible together because their musical relationship dates back to 1995 when they both were part of the Saturnalia Trio, proving that longevity can go a long way. If you're new to either musician's work, this is the perfect starting point.
