In the shadows of heavy progressive rock, Chercán's self-titled debut album emerges like a dark and eerie dreamscape. Evident influences from eclectic titans like Mars Volta, Tool, and Leprous swirl with South American nuances of legendary Rock En Español acts - La Ley's haunting melodies, Caifanes' mystique, and Soda Stereo's late-era grandeur.

In this potent mix, Chercán forges a sound that's both complex and captivating. Rodrigo González's Latin-laced drumming is an unquestionable highlight, as is the spectacular saxophonist Matías Bahamondes, whose ability to elevate the songs is close to perfection. Overall the musicianship is high quality, and vocalist/guitarist Martín Peña has a very pleasant tonality that goes very well with the band's music. The quintet is rounded up by lead guitarist Roberto Faúndez and bassist Simón Catalán. For a debut this record is more than just solid, and its dark and eerie look and feel will appeal to fans of heavy progressive rock and eclectic prog… looking forward to what they have in store in the near future… Some highlights are the tandem “Caen Las Hojas Blancas� and “Kalimba�, the beautiful “Tiempos Paralelos�, and Part II from the two-part suite “Relato De Una Obsesión�… cheers!
