Bueno Muerte is the third full-length studio album from Chile's Ocultum, a power trio doom/stoner/sludge band comprised of Seb (guitar, vocals), Pablo (bass) and Ricardo (drums). The album features 5 new songs, one being a full fledged (and pretty groovy) instrumental, in "Drugged Wizard Walks By", a short little psychedelic guitar interlude, and then three massive doom-laden crushers, featuring harsh, black metal/sludge inspired vocals, crushing riffs, and moments of creepy psychedelia. "Last Weed on Earth" amps up the fuzz in a big way, the riffs just apocalyptic, and "Enki's Return" is just brutal, the vocal bellows cutting through the waves of bass & guitar fuzz and pounding drums, the song ending with some eerie atmosphere to take things out. The title track is also quite monstrous, the guitar having a serious amount of fuzz and what sounds like phaser/flanger effects on it, making it even more haunting. Fans of Bongzilla and the like will certainly find plenty to dig their teeth into here, though the vocals might not be for everyone. Seriously heavy and trippy stuff!
