Six albums in, and the all-female Swedish hard-rock band Thundermother is still going strong -- despite massive membership turnover. The quartet that recorded 2025's Dirty & Divine represents a lineup that’s been playing live shows together since 2023, and it also marks the first time vocalist Linnea Vikström Egg appears on a Thundermother record. Her credits include Therion and a solo career, and that experience is reflected in the way she sings her heart out.
Imagine Thundermother’s fellow Swedes Crazy Lixx as women, and you’ll have a good idea of how this band sounds on Dirty & Divine. With 10 tracks spanning no more than 35 minutes, the album offers some killer songs (“Bright Eyes,” “Speaking of the Devil,” “I Left My License in the Future”), a handful of take-’em-or-leave-’em cuts (“So Close,” “Take the Power,” “Dead or Alive”) and one dreadfully generic and clichéd throwaway track (album closer “American Adrenaline”).
Whether you’re a newcomer or a longtime fan -- the band’s first album, Rock ’N’ Roll Disaster came out more than a decade ago -- Dirty & Divine seeks to satisfy. And for the most part, it does.
