Serbian traditional metal stalwarts Claymorean have thrilled audiences for a number of years with their expertly played and potent musical attack, and they are back with their latest effort for Stormspell Records, Eternal Curse. Led by the commanding vocal presence of Dejana Garčević, the band (who really are one big family for the most part) have put together eight new songs for this release (nice if you get the CD version, which has a cover of KISS' "The Oath") that will satisfy anyone into the whole 'new wave of traditional heavy metal' movement.
After the brief instrumental opener "Overture 1914", you'll instantly get bombarded by such old-school rippers like "By This Sword We Rule", "Under the Sign of the Cross", "Battle Born", "300", "Wind Before the Storm" (which is EPIC!), and the kick-ass title track, which sees Dejana singing up a storm...think Doro on steroids folks, that's what this lady brings to the table! All throughout, the guitar riffs, and guitar tone I might add, are top-notch, and the drumming also is worth mentioning as that is on point throughout. If you like classic sounding metal anthems with a killer female singer belting it out, Eternal Curse is definitely for you, and be prepared to go hunting for their back catalog shortly afterwards!
