Crommie, Daniel: Lost City of Sirens

Prolific DIY multi-instrumentalist Daniel Crommie has released Lost City of Sirens, a low-key yet compelling album of electronic/ambient music featuring both melodic and abstract pieces highlighted by flutes, synths, theremins, various percussion and other instrumentation. The result? A spacey, relaxing hour of music during which you can chill out or mentally recharge. Crommie occasionally sprinkles in some rhythmic variation -- most notably with “Last Nights in August,” which indulges in a groovy, carefree late-summer vibe (complete with mosquito-like effects).

Over the past 35 years or so, Crommie has released more than three dozen solo albums, as well as albums with other musicians under names like Group Du Jour and Echo System. So, if Lost City of Sirens doesn’t quite resonate with you, just wait a few months. Because Crommie no doubt will release more music in 2025.
