Philadelphia’s Breakker (note the two “K”s) makes classic melodic hard rock/heavy metal. The quartet is fronted by Clare Mairéad -- who, dare I say, reminds me quite a bit of a young Pat Benatar, especially on “Times Not Gonna Wait,” the raucous opening track on this self-titled five-song EP. With riffs galore, tight arrangements, well-placed backing vocals and some searing guitar work from Teagan Edsell, Breakker is a frills-free, rippin’ rock record.
