The latest EP from the Florida-based “aggressive sci-fi rock” trio My Wild Heaven is, indeed, wild. Spanning five tracks over 15 minutes, Strange Euphoria contains songs about -- in the band’s own words: “Insanity triggered by computer communications with ghosts (‘For All We Know’), recurring past-life visions as a WWII B-17 bomber pilot (‘Twelve O’Clock High’), a novice’s first visit to a time-travel agency (‘Triptik for a Time Traveler’), a battered old Gibson ES-345 guitar that channels creative spirits (‘Song in the Strings’) and a lineman’s close encounter with a fleet of UFOs (‘I Have Seen the Saucers’).”
Obviously, these guys don’t lack creativity. Vocalist, guitarist, Mellotron-ist and songwriter William Bechtel kinda sings like a combination of Lemmy and Ray Davies, and no two songs sound the same. Although brief, Strange Euphoria offers a burst of rock, prog and punk energy.
