Taken literally, the term “giGo” (regardless of the punctuation) can mean “garbage in, garbage out.” But if that’s the image this five-man UK-based band was going for, it couldn’t be more off the mark. The Divine Proportion is giGO’s nine-track debut album, featuring guitarist Doug Scarratt (Saxon), Don Schiff on NS/Stick bass (Rocket Scientists), keyboardist Andy Kinch, drummer Jamie-Ray Scarratt and vocalist Anthony Duke.
This is shiny prog-pop, with elements of everything from Neal Morse to Squeeze. Other comparisons include Mike & The Mechanics, Don Henley, Tears for Fears and Simply Red -- and they’re all fair. With earworm melodies, proggy arrangements, smart lyrics, stellar musicianship and transparent enthusiasm for every note they play, giGO makes music that sounds at once instantly familiar and radically bold.
