The band’s 12th studio album isn’t likely to change that status. If you’re already a fan, purchasing A Prayer for the Loud will be an easy choice. If you’re not a fan, though, these 11 loud and swaggering songs won’t convert you. You’ll keep listening, hoping for something to grab you with a sharp hook -- like the chorus on the title track almost does. Then, 45 minutes later, it’s all over and you won’t really remember what you just heard.
