Japanische Kampfhorspiele: Hardcore Aus Der Ersten Welt
While I'm all for the whole foreign language thing and kinda into it (I have a few Slavik language records in my collection, mostly Polish and Czech), this outfit just doesn't do much for me. The songs seem to fly by just a little too quickly and, once more, speed and brutality has been forsaken for depth, clarity and at least a modicum of musical sensitivity. After a time it's like being spun around (blindfolded) in a circle of drunken jocks who want to take your sister home and have their way with 'er. I dunno. At the end of the day, like the ancient Greeks, I wanna a little unity, if you know what I mean. I don't hate this and have to give the guys props for at least appearing not to take themselves too seriously (and, again, my German's weak enough that I'm actually screwed without a notion on that front) but doubt that it would call from the bowels of my music shelf time and again like those really magic records do. Oh, and since this is sung in the töngue of the Fatherland, does that mean we should file it under world music? Just checking.
