RAM/Portrait: Under Command

The NWOBHM has a lot to answer for especially Judas Priest and this split six tracker from RAM and Portrait is wholly infused with Halford-esque vocals especially from RAM's Oscar Carlquist. The bands are good chums and they each cover a tune from the other band. The worrying point, however, is that the tunes from outside RAM and Portrait are so much better – it would take a special effort to make a balls up of KISS' "Creatures of the Night" and RAM don't although there's a definite Paul Stanley sized hole in things. Portrait far slightly better with Exciter's "Aggressor" possibly because it isn't as far out of their wheelhouse and overall this is a fun if not exactly essential effort.
