Vantage Point: Just When I Wasn't Lookin'

A single with special guest vocalist Martin Jakubski augmenting the soaring tones of this band's usual bassist/singer Murray Graham, "Just When I Wasn't Lookin'" found Edinburgh's Vantage Point plugging the gap between 2012 EP High Maintenance Girlfriend and their excellent Demonic Dinner Dance album, which hit earlier this year. Known for fronting tribute bands to both Iron Maiden (Maiden Scotland) and Marillion (Silmarillion) Jakubski really is an excellent singer and the mid-paced Maiden meets Priest of the title track is a perfect situation for him. However Murray is no slacker, backing him ably and bringing a completely different feel with his more urgent delivery. It has to be said this non-album track really is a strong indicator of what this excellent, unsung, Scottish act are capable of.

Adding value comes a live version of "Conversation Stopper" from 2011 and a demo version of "24 Hour Breakdown" from 2003, however "Just When I Wasn't Lookin'" itself, is reason enough to invest.
