British group The Zombies were one of the heavy hitters of the '60s psychedelic rock scene, cranking out a handful of hit singles and best selling albums before disbanding just as the decade was coming to a close. Keyboard player Rod Argent went off to form his own band Argent, and lead singer Colin Blunstone attempted a solo career, but neither achieved the heights that their former band had reached, so in the last decade the two put the band back together, and with guitarist Tom Toomey. longtime Kinks bassist Jim Rodford, and his son Steve Rodford on drums, The Zombies are once again a working unit.
Recorded Live In Concert At Metropolis Studios, London was filmed in front of a small audience, and shows the band in fine form playing some of their classics as well as Blundstone solo material and the Argent staple "Hold Your Head Up". If you are looking for "She's Not There", "Summertime", "Tell Her No", "I Love You", and "Time of the Season", they are all here, plus plenty others. Blunstone is still in amazing vocal form after all these years, and Argent can still deliver those amazing organ and piano lines that we all remember, plus excellent backing vocals. The band is rock solid throughout, and everyone seems to be having a blast on the Argent hit "Hold Your Head Up", including the audience. The audio & video on both the DVD and CD is quite good, and it all comes housed in a nice digipack set complete with a booklet containing photos and plenty of info. It's another nice presentation from the folks at MVD.
