    | | Hufnagel, Kevin: Transparencies
Best known from his work in the instrumental Prog Rock band, Dysrhythmia, Kevin Hufnagel has issued quite a departure in musical explorations with his latest release entitled, Transparencies (Nightfloat Recordings). This recording is an ambient journey into melding electric and acoustic guitar sounds into one. The sounds, while highly confusing, are lush and thick, while offering a dream state like feeling that you might get from watching A Clockwork Orange while high and drunk. The soundscapes reminded me very much of being quite Stanley Kubrick like, trance like, dark and spacey.

This is a very experimental type of recording that will surely not find a home with every listener. I for one, found the music contained within to be quite uninteresting, to all sound the same and without melody or substance. The bland landscape this painted is only interesting for 30-35 seconds at a time, at best. Interesting idea, but I found it boring.
