Progressive Rock Frederic L'Epee writes:

Frédéric L’Épée released his new solo album 12 Pieces for Solo Electric Guitar on April 27th 2023, available only on Bandcamp.
This release is very different from his work with Yang, being performed exclusively on solo electric guitar, with very few effects and no looper (except a drone in the last piece) or overdub.

The works presented on 12 pieces for solo electric guitar, composed between 1996 and 2021 are the result of Frédéric L'Epée's reflexion about the electric guitar techniques with a view to broadening its repertoire, from popular music such as rock or even jazz, to contemporary music, the latter using, in his opinion, the electric guitar still often as a cliché: distorted sounds, violence, electronic sound effects.

12 Pieces for Solo Electric Guitar is an album made of studies (Etudes) addressing different angles of the technique of the electric guitar, as well as compositions, mainly contemporary classic, for this instrument.

The Etudes have been composed in relation to specific techniques, such as string-skipping, plectrum attack, intervals or special tunings (New Standard Tuning), but are nevertheless compositions in their own rights. Only the Etude n° 3 on arpeggios, is not included in the album, being more of an exercise, but will be part of a planned series of scores.

The recording of the 12 pieces has been recorded using very few effects, adding some digital reverberation and delay after recording to suggest a large hall or sometimes a church atmosphere.
