ITAYIL is the solo project of Canadian musician David Chunn. Translating to “in between,” the word ITAYIL resonated with Chunn on a personal level, both in terms of lifestyle and musical influences. A scientist by day and musician by night, Chunn blends sounds from various genres to create melodies that capture the meaning of ITAYIL.
Quote:
“This song reflects on the finite nature of life, and how nothing is constant. Just as quickly as we learn and grow, we forget and the light leaves us, similar to a flower in bloom.” David Chunn
“Bloom” lyrics: It may be day or night I can't tell
Shapes take on faint forms
Never manifesting fully
Light and life seem distant
Like faraway stars
Present as an afterthought
In the pale dark
Distant voices call
From behind translucent walls
Reaching out to strip the senses bare
As if all that we knew disappeared
Light fills our eyes for finite time
Our souls in bloom
A fleeting moment of lucidity that fades
All too soon
A vacant panorama
Grows vivid for an instant
Blink and you'll miss it
Claw at the scenes
Stumble off the edge of a dream
(A dream beyond belief)
Distant voices call
From behind translucent walls
To the world, we open up our eyes
Only to close them again in due time
Light fills our eyes for finite time
Our souls in bloom
A fleeting moment of lucidity that fades
All too soon
Unbelievable clarity
Elusive as wind-up wings
(Flying beneath the veil)
Beneath the veil of all we see
Light fills our eyes for finite time
Our souls in bloom
We reach towards the sky
Then wither and decay
All too soon
