Heavy Metal

Date: - 6th of the 6th and its 6pm… Machine Head have just been announced as the Saturday headline act for Bloodstock Festival in the U.K. Tonight however is all about having fun and belting out some cover versions under the moniker of Ten Ton Hammer, yes, Machine Head are in town, the secret is out to the people 'in the know' and playing to a packed out hall of devotees and fan club members. The beer is flowing at reasonable prices and hell, we're taking advantage of it!

Soon enough Rob Flynn and Co. are ripping into bands influential to them and simply playing covers they don't normally get the chance to air live in an intimate setting. We get some Metallica, Priest, Maiden and an amazing version of the Foo Fighters Everlong, slightly beefed up. Some Pantera sees the pit erupt into a frenzy of beer, sweat and youthful exuberance as does a healthy dose of Slayer. The guys are happy and having a blast, even Adam Duce is smiling, joining Rob saluting the crowd with his 'cheers mother fuckers' chant after every song while tossing drinks into the massing pit. A Machine Head set would not be complete without some album tracks so we get Halo, and an encore of Davidian that ensures the structural integrity of the building is tested to within its limits. An awesome set that left all lucky enough to attend no doubt that Machine Head certainly deserve the success they receive in Europe.
