The 'Time Machine Tour' finally beamed down to the U.K and for the massed middle aged hoard waiting to hear them play 'Moving Pictures' in its entirety it couldn't come soon enough. Geddy & the boys were celebrating the 30th anniversary since the release of the album and this was a perfect way to celebrate in front of thousands of like minded fans.

Before we got to that point we had a small matter of revisiting about one and a half hours worth of back catalogue material and the preceding mini film. The film to be honest was very well done and set the scene perfectly, depicting the house band 'Rash' and a 'Time Machine' invention which transported the band through the ages of music…those crazy Canadians! Who said they had no sense of humor. Then it was Rush hit after hit, 'Spirit Of Radio' kicked us off quickly followed by 'Time Stand Still' and I could have left a happy man at that point.

It seems the years have been kind to Rush with performances night after night, year after year getting better and they seem to still be enjoying it. With a lighting rig the size of an alien mothership hanging above them springing into motion at sporadic intervals and a sausage machine on stage churning out a never ending string of well…sausages it perfectly fits these prog masters sense of fun while playing their much loved songs. An onscreen countdown reminded us that it was time for 'Moving Pictures' in its entirety. Gone is the South Park intro for 'Tom Sawyer' and a flawless performance of 'YYZ' bring hairs on end. An almost 10 minute drum solo and encore set ending with 'Working Man' sent home fathers & sons with a tear in their eye. What a way to spend a Monday night…now when do that Rash band tour???
