Swedish "Death Metal" is alive and well on Darkane's newest effort, Demonic Art (Nuclear Blast Records). Fast & furious, this 12 track release will not disappoint fans of their earlier material & YES this CD also welcomes another new shouter in Jens Borman.
Demonic Art is heavy and mean with nice melodic passages throughout that do not make the songs light or wimpy. Powerful, progressive and thick are just a few words to describe this effort. From the Nevermore overtones of "Demigod" to the Thrashy bliss of "Impetious Constant Chaos", Darkane are firing on all cylinders on Demonic Art. Guitarists Christofer Malmström and Klas Ideberg are really the show stoppers here. With ever flowing melodic and twisty riffing throughout, headbanging is found on each and every track. Fantastic musicianship with great heavy hooks and excellent soloing make this an early '09 Metal must have.
5 albums and 3 singers later, Darkane are still very much on track with Demonic Art. Great riffing and equally great vocals, both sung & screamed, with the awesomely melodic song structures make this a great Metal release. I am a lover of most things metal out of Sweden and once again the Swedes don't disappoint!
