Back in October of 2005 at the Music Box at Fonda Theater a sold out benefit took place to celebrate and honor the music of Sublime and raise money for a few charities, including The MusiCare Hurricane Relief Fund. If you were at all a fan of the late band, one of the 90's first true alternative bands, who combined hard rock, punk, reggae, pop, and ska, this gathering of known and unknown bands should be a fun watch. Joining in on the fun is notable acts such as Fishbone, covering the signature song "Date Rape", Los Lobos with "Pawn Shop", and Ozomatli taking a shot at "Saturday Night". Otherwise, expect to hear other bands doing their best to "Get Out", "Waiting For My Ruca", "Badfish", and some full-on jam sessions clovering "Santeria", "Doin Time", and "What I Got". In addition, there's a bonus CD that comes with the package as well that includes some songs that are and aren't on the DVD.
While a fun watch, I'm not sure that this tribute show will be of much interest to people other than die-hard Sublime fans, but hey, if you want to hear and see Fishbone and Los Lobos take on a few of these party hearty songs, give it a shot. Ultimately there was a really good cause behind this show, and that's all that matters.
