Electrond: Uneasy Listening

Uneasy Listening is an EP by Electrond, an electric-prog output from Norway featuring Oslo’s RIO/Avant-prog band Panzerpappa’s drummer Trond Gjellum. It contains eight short and very atmospheric songs, with lots of space-like sounds and unpredictable rhythms.

There’s not much to say about the music on this EP, besides the fact that the Eno/Kraftwerk influence is evident and that the mastermind smartly injects various Zappa sounding nuances on the melodies, so the result sounds like a laid-back version of FSOL.

There are of course multiple apparent hooks that bring the music from the back of the listener’s brain and places it in front of him, getting his attention and putting him in an on-guard position, where he eternally awaits for the music to explode… but it just never happens, especially on “Marpi” which is a beautiful track and an unquestionable highlight.

If you are up for a trip then turn off the lights and pull down the curtains, preferably at 4:20pm, put the headphones on and press play, enjoy and von voyage!!!
