Naked Gypsy Queens: Georgiana (EP)

If you want your hard rock with swagger, Franklin Tennessee based Naked Gypsy Queens will be up your alley. Ballsy, bluesy, hard rock comes blaring out of the speakers and doesn’t let up. The music is a raw, and I mean that in a good way, it feels like the band is playing live. Crank up the guitars, bang the drums and let it rip. The opening title track features cool slide guitar and goes right for the jugular. The band is loose and loaded with raunchy 70’s riffs, basically going for broke right on every track. The riff based “Down To The Devil” is aggressive, and vocalist Chris Attiliato comes across as singer with confidence and attitude. I’d love the dual guitars of Attigliato and Cade Pickering to do more harmonizing, but at least the guitars are upfront and loud. After “Strawberry Blonde #24”, all I can say is they sound ready to slay every audience they get in front of if they can put this type of energy into a studio recording. The closing “If Your Name is New York (Then Mine’s Amsterdam)" brings out the acoustic guitars and a cool vibe, and of course more soloing.

Georgiana was produced by the same team that helmed Greta Van Fleet's chart-topping Anthem of the Peaceful Army. The EP was recorded in Detroit, and has the rock-n-roll vibe that town is famous for. Hopefully the band can sustain the energy captured here when it comes time to make a full length album. But for now, I can see cranking this one in the summertime out on the deck with a few beers and blow off some steam.
