Over two years in the making and with a substantial list of contributors, that is over one hundred performers this is the Vivaldi Metal Project. The driving force behind this massive undertaking is keyboardist, producer and composer MISTHERIA (Bruce Dickinson, Roy Z, Rob Rock, Artlantica, solo artist). Vivaldi Metal Project: The Four Seasons is a symphonic metal opera based on Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, though there is also two original tracks by Mistheria, "Escape From Hell" is one these and opens the album with Rob Rock on vocals . Vivaldi Metal Project: The Four Seasons includes vocalists and musicians with a metal background as well as classical artists, a string quartet, an orchestra and multiple choirs. Some of the performers we find on here are vocalist's Fabio Lione (Rhapsody of Fire, Angra), Mark Boals (ex. Malmsteen, Royal Hunt), Edu Falaschi (Almah, ex. Angra), Rob Rock (Solo artist, Impellitteri), and bass player Mike Lepond (Symphony X).
In a major twist for his interpretation of this classic MISTHERIA decided to add lyrics for which others of note were brought on board to assist in this move, as well as for the musical arrangements. This all seems like quite a daunting project from an idea that was born in 2013 but MISTHERIA and all those involved have really delivered. The addition of vocals hasn't hurt in the slightest as they slot in so well and don't sound out of place as does the musical alterations like those exciting solo passages. Classical music and heavy metal have come together many times before with impressive outcomes and this album is no different, the participants on this release are all highly talented and have recorded an album that so many will enjoy.
