Vaughan, Stevie Ray:-Rise of a Texas Bluesman- 1954-1983 (DVD)

The legend of Stevie Ray Vaughan is a huge one. No other Blues player is more responsible for the resurgence of Blues music since the 80's than SRV. He single handedly gave Blues life in the 80's and brought it to the world and made it mainstream. SRV is musician that deserved everything that he had received and was taken from us all way too early on August 27th, 1990.

Rise of a Texas Bluesman: 1954-1983 is a documentary DVD that details the early and formative years of a young Stevie Ray Vaughan from his rise to local fame in Austin, TX., to the beginnings of his place in Blues guitar history. This film chronicles the early Rock n Roll roots that would transform into his love and saving of the Texas Blues. From stories told by former bandmates and friends this a very organic and authentic tale of a guitar hero in the making.

Rise of a Texas Bluesman is not only the story of SRV's rise to stardom, but it is a history lesson of the Blues and it's origins. Th film showcases the lineage of early Blues legends Blind Lemon Jefferson, T-Bone Walker and SRV's ultimate hero, Albert King, as well as many other Blues greats and legends.

While this is not an officially sanctioned DVD by the Estate of Stevie Ray Vaughan, it is quite an in depth look into the history of a young Stevie Ray Vaughan right up until when he first becomes a guitar hero. It doesn't focus much on the famous, legendary years, but more on the making of SRV and his cutting teeth days. The quitting of high school and all of the different types of bands he was in, from Rock to Blues, that would all be pivotal in the making of the future guitar hero.

If you are a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan and or a fan of the Blues, you will love this DVD. It is well made and from a fan's perceptive with great detail and love. There is a lot of information brought forth in this DVD that has not been widely discussed before and makes for very riveting viewing. This is an excellent unofficial documentary.
