Vader: Tibi Et Igni

The truth of the matter is, when it comes to any new release from Polish death metal juggernauts Vader, you are not going to get blindsided by any abrupt change in direction or deviation from the formula. And, that's not necessarily a bad thing when you have consistently delivered crushing old school styled death metal as long as this band have. Tibi Et Igni picks up right where Welcome to the Morbid Reich left off, with guitarist/vocalist Peter & Co. leading the charge through nine tracks of death metal mayhem.

There are no surprises here, but it's quality all the way, as Vader cranks out one pummeling song after another. "Where Angels Weep" and "Armada on Fire" feature those trademark riffs, pulverizing drum blasts, flying whammy bar tinged solos, and Peter's clearly understood deep growls. "Triumph of Death" rumbles and boils along like vintage Slayer, and the grand, majestic "Hexenkessel" sees the band delivering a mix of epic symphonic metal with trashy death metal for a wild & exciting ride. Of course, for most longtime fans, it's the raging old school styled death metal that's going to be of most interest, so look no further than the brutal "Abandon All Hope" or the manic "Light Reaper", two perfect examples of precision extreme metal from a band that's been doing it and doing it well for so long.

Chalk it all up as another splendid set of brutal, concise, old school death metal from Vader, and, in the end, did we ever for one second think that this wouldn't be the case? Nope, probably not. These guys crush it time and time again, and they've done so once again here on Tibi Et Igni.
