Ironclad: Strike & Ravage EP

Ironclad play "true heavy metal" something the band from Finland do quite commendably on this four track EP Strike & Ravage. It's all about that robust heavy metal that never gets old as the elder statesman of the genre are still showing.

Ironclad is not the easiest band to get to know as I really did struggle to find any detailed or semi-detailed information for that matter regarding this group when I went searching, so they must be content to let Strike & Ravage do the talking. This is well established musical territory that Strike & Ravage is presenting, hardly going to win points with anyone looking for a refreshing sound. The hooks are there prominently entrenched in their songs, and Ironclad don't forget the variety with the up-tempo tracks sounding better suited to this band.

Opener "Strike & Ravage" has a motivated Ironclad following in the path of groups like Running Wild and kicking it into gear with a pirate themed number that ties in with the title and EP's artwork as Ironclad's zesty metal and raspy vocals do the trick. "Harder Than Steel" is next as Ironclad inject their rousing riff driven metal, then there is a change in proceedings with "Warriors" which has a Manowar feel and is the slowest and least memorable track that tends to drag along. Ironclad soon return to what they do well as "Demon Heart" stirs up the tempo with thunderous double kicks bringing the EP to an engaging conclusion.

Ironclad impress with the majority of tracks on Strike & Ravage not a bad effort at all.
