I do enjoy some great melodic/power metal the kind that bands such as Mob Rules and Thunderstone do so well, and this is one Finnish melodic metal band that has recently captured my attention. The band is called Cardiant who formed in 2000, and now in this current year Cardiant releases their third and very catchy album titled Verge.
This is my first encounter with Cardiant's material and Verge is an album flowing with plenty of that which makes for an impressive melodic metal recording. Featuring mostly male lead and also backed with female vocals not to mention that nimble musicianship as this band really turns it on with a clear and powerful sound.
Verge opens with "Justice Turns Into Revenge" and this is such an enticing vibrant introduction to Cardiant's great new metal release, "Thought's Inception" has its charms like those creative drumming chops that fit so very well, while it is not as animated as the prior track revealing that Cardiant songs don't remain at the one pace creating a well balanced album. Though if you like your music lively there is other faster Cardiant dual kick driven tracks like "Heaven's Calling" and "Break Your Mind" on Verge that also impress. Female lead vocals make an appearance on "While The Ice Is Cold" as the band close with a slow and powerful number.
Cardiant have done a great job with this release they sure know how to create the kind of compelling melodic songs that you will want to revisit again and again.
