Vazquez, Beto: Infinity

Infinity was Beto Vazquez' first album release and he searched the world for some fantastic vocalists and musicians to help bring his initial creation to life. Beto Vazquez is an Argentinian composer and multi-instrumentalist who has been releasing epic albums full of some of metal's best vocalists and talent since 2000.

My interest in this album began when I read the credits and found out one of my favorite female vocalists, Sabine Edelsbacher performed on the album. But as I found out with his new release, Beyond Space Without Limits, his albums are full of excellent tracks and spacey stories of the future. So as Lightyear says, "To infinity… and beyond!"

'Until Dawn (Angels of Light)', opens with cool spacey keys and brilliant strings building steam. Then a heavenly choir featuring Tarja Turunen unfolds before the soundscape, providing enough thrills to fill your ears. After a majestic opening the drums, bass, and electric guitars take over as Turnen's voice helps add to the melody and power of the track. Off to a great start.

'Wizard' is the track that brought me to this album. Featuring both Tarja Turunen and Sabine Edelsbacher, it is more than a fan could ask for. This is a track full of flute- like keys that fill the opening. Then Sabine takes the stage with, "Where the rainbow meets the sky. In the mountains, so gleaming, so high. There, the wizard spoke his rhymes. Calling back the ancient times, when magic had ruled over earth, sea and air". Yes, just like that you have been thrust back into the realm of the 'Lords of the Ring'. If you close your eyes you can imagine you're in Rivendell. The music is haunting and wonderful. Edelsbacher leads, but Turunen does a wonderful job of support. Best song on the album. But wait…there's more!

Famous Italian vocalist, Fabio Lione, is the featured lead vocalist on 'The Battle of the Past'. A power-packed drum and percussion assault on the senses. The lead guitar, bass and streaming keys add their dimension as this rushing river of a song roars through the speakers.

Tarja Turunen returns to deliver the vocals for 'Sadness in the Night'. It is a sad and lonely song, but delivered well and full of emotion. The drums, string – like keys and guitar rhythms add power to the soundscape.

'Through Times Part I' is a wonderful flute interlude, with accompanying acoustic guitar. The Medieval/Renaissance sound of this track adds to the mystical impressions being created throughout this wonderful album.

'Through Times Part II', adds harpsichord sounding keys to the already entrancing melody developed in the last track. Then Candice Night, from Blackmore's Night, unfolds her bounty of vocal talent before your ears. Simply magic.

'Golden Hair', also features the beautiful voice of Candice Night. If you have seen pictures of Candace, you'll know Beto had no other choice of singer for the title of this track. The song is very similar in sound and structure to the style of music she has continued to make with Blackmore's Night. Excellent.

Pablo Soler considered one of the fastest guitar players in Argentina, opens 'Infinity Space', flashing his axe as the drums, bass, and keys provide rhythm and melody. His solos display the speed with which he can rip that axe. Let the amazement begin. The dramatic tempo and drums on this one also rocks well.

Candice Night returns with the final chapter of 'Through Times Part III'. Flute opens and dominates the first section of this part of the trilogy. But later the sax and Night's beautiful voice take this one over the top.

More Tarja Turunen and Sabine Edelsbacher! You bet. 'The Laws of the Future' features both vocalists for a second outing. (There will be a third…next). Sabine leads, with Tarja supporting. That Austrian vocal power just washes over the piece with lush waves of sound.

'Promises Under the Rain' brings together the three magical female vocalists on this album, Tarja Turunen, Candice Night, and Sabine Edelsbacher. And yes they do create unbelievable magic together. Excellent drum, bass, and electric lead guitar with keys help support the ladies well as each takes a chance at lead vocals with the lyrical story.

This is an album filled with magical music and some of the best female vocalists and musicians in the metal genre. It is the initial trip for Beto Vazquez, in a career which will be filled with highlights. Find out where he started and how cleverly he picked excellent talent to help unfold his masterpiece opus. This is where it began…now…"on to infinity!"
