Amp Rive: Irma Vep

Amp Rive are a wholly new band to me and I've quite enjoyed getting to know their work. It's dreamy, instrumental music described by their people thus;" Amp Rive's music can be described as post-rock with a strong focus on melody, mixed with hints of shoegaze and dreamy dissonances. Energetic, pure and elegantly melodic dynamism. Precise, functional, but never trivial rhythmics." Yep, that just about covers it. Their work is shoegazing but not in the 1990's UK dull-as-shit type shoegazing but as in introspective, thoughtful music with lilting melodies and fluid playing all round. My colleague Carl Sederholm recently described the rather pleasant set from Uhrijuhla as the kind of music one would have on in the background and here is another which works in a similar way because of the mellow vibe on offer.
