Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats: Blood Lust

Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats have been going about making waves and causing commotion in the music industry without actually playing any dates or without photographic evidence of who they really are. Apparently they hail from Cambridge in the UK and the band consists of the enigmatically named Uncle Acid - vocals, guitar, keyboards, with Kat – bass and Red – drums. Blood Lust is a re-release whilst the band records their first "proper" album for the good people at Metal Blade Records / Rise Above Records. This album is due in early 2013 and should be well worth the wait.

Blood Lust displays a wealth of influences and styles. I hear Hawkwind in there, a whole host of 70s classic rock guitars, a smidgeon of Alice Cooper plus a whole lot of Black Sabbath. In many ways this is a throwback to the days of no frills rock n roll played by musicians who can both actually play and appear and not give a flying you know what about popular trends. You'll note that the track listing below suggests that the band conceived the album as, erm, an album with a side A and side B which reflects the vintage nature of their work. An unexpected pleasure.

Track Listing:
SIDE ONE
1. I'll Cut you Down
2. Death's Door
3. Over and Over Again
4. Curse of the Trees
SIDE TWO
1. I'm Here to Kill you
2. 13 Candles
3. Ritual Knife
4. Withered Hand of Evil

My Score:

No this album is better than Mind Control. Both are great by the way.
