Virtual Mind: A Perfect Union

Virtual Mind was started by Francesco Fareri, a guitar player from Rome who has released 3 solo albums for Lion Music. Francesco plays 7 and 8 stringed guitars. Frontman for the band is Titta Tani, former DGM singer, who has also sung with Astra, Ashent, and many other acts.

The style of the band in this album is gritty, aggressive, raw, manly, hairy-chested metal with some real horsepower behind it in the way of virtuoso style riffage. The musicians prove their chops with some serious instrumentalism, and yet there is a "no nonsense" feel to this album that I think many metal fans will love. The band avoids going off on musical tangents and sticks to their metal roots, it seems, while still taking the time to jam out. Unfortunately, I found that the production of the album left something to be desired. Overall, the album sounded more like a live recording than a studio album - the instruments sounded muddy at times, I caught a number of places where someone was off by a fraction of a beat, when vocals were in harmony they didn't always sound like they were perfectly in sync, and overall the sound was not the crystal clear sound I'm used to hearing from a studio album. But I encourage the readers to give this album a shot despite the production, as the musicianship goes a long way to make up for this and makes the experience quite enjoyable regardless.
