Wig Wam: Wall Street

The problem with Wig Wam is that their first two albums (Hard to be a RocK'n'Roller and Wig Wamania) were so utterly wonderful that both this and their third effort (Non Stop Rock 'n' Roll) both suffer in comparison as they aren't quite as good. Arguably the main problem is that neither as joyously infectious as the first two records and the tunes aren't quite as memorable.

That said I knew that Wall Street had got to me when I woke up at the ungodly hour of 0600 and realised that the title track was going round my mind. It stayed with me for the rest of the day and there are other fine tunes on the album such as "OMG! (Wish I had a Gun)" but at times there's a definite slip towards what one could call mediocrity which is sad given that there looked at one time a distinct possibility that Wig Wamania could become a worldwide phenomenon. Neither ballad ("Victory is Sweet" and "Bleeding Daylight") is up to the mark and as such the record drags at these points which is a shame as when they are good Wig Wam are still a force to be reckoned with. In no way is Wall Street a bad album, it's just not a great one, however, if you are already a fan you will find something to enjoy.
