German death metal…Three words to send shivers down the spine or send you laughing to the loin cloth shop! Thankfully Desaster do a pretty respectable job of sending metal shivers down my spine while trying their utmost to break my neck. Like the proverbial metal fist to the face this is intense, immediate, violent, fury unleashed upon the listener that is sure to send them into a frothing mass of uselessness. What I love about foreign metal is their awesome song titles and The Arts Of Destruction is no exception, 'Queens Of Sodomy' just conjures up many Freddy Mercury, George Michael jokes, but in all seriousness pounds along like the title suggests.
They may not be breaking new ground but Desester make all the right sounds and are sure to appeal to the many fans with money to burn. It's fast, furious metal in the face, I like it and I'm sure you'll agree that as long as we have ears and the ability to communicate using more than clicks and beeps metal of this kind will be with us for years to come. It also comes with great cover art depicting a sword wielding Satan, it doesn't get more metal than that.
